and so it begins….

I’ve been wanting to start a blog for quite a few months now, and although I have been really busy, I think the blame for my continued procrastination falls on my fears and insecurities.  As I sat on a blanket in my front yard this past Saturday enjoying the company of my daughter and close friend Danielle, soaking in the evening sun I realized that I could no longer ignore the internal blog I had been writing everyday.  I think I fear that no one will care or so many people will disagree with my thoughts… but the truth is, if you don’t care, don’t read my blog and if you disagree, write your own blog.  As I shared my thoughts on pregnancy books and motherhood, among other things, with Danielle, she mentioned I should write a book about what I have learned.  I laughed.  I am by no means an expert on motherhood (let alone writing) I said- “I haven’t even been a mother for a full year yet.”  She protested saying that my thoughts were unique and valuable because she sees what a great mother I am to Amari.  So we agreed that at the very least, I need to be writing down what I’m learning for Amari’s sake.  So that if and when she becomes a mother, she will have a little direction from someone she hopefully loves and trusts and doesn’t have to go searching in any of those scary books, or the ridiculously unhelpful books that are out there.  So although this blog will be about many things… my life, motherhood, cooking, crafting, and yes my artwork too…. It is really a way to preserve things for my sweet little girl, Amari, and any other little ones that may follow.
